Hypocrisy

I have seen varieties of hypocrisy among so many a people, it is the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case. Mr T is fond of extorting money from his office desk that initially belongs to the firm, and always cunningly collecting money from interviewees promising to tender their CVs to the General Manager whom he has never met, seen and cannot gain access to. This same man curses and abuses the green white green parasterters and public officers every morning for power failure and bad roads. I ask the question, who is the saint and who is the sinner.

One of the Exodusite law states that " Thou shalt have no other gods before me." This may not necessarily mean the worship and engagement in Ifa or Obatala but anything that takes the consciousness of the Creator from you is an idol. My bone of contention is birth out of a sincere heart of emicable understanding that no man has the right to condemn another. The one whose abode is not among men is the rightful judge. 

A man who has earned my respect, honour and reverencial accolade cannot do anything that should make me disrespect his personality. Men are prone to err. Make no mistake of judging a man you do not know. Do not forget that he that knows your thoughts and secret action is so close to you and that is your shadows. Men can clap for you, praise you and honour you because they lack the inner eyes to see who you truly are, don't forget that the shadows is always there day and night, it's appearance only make effects in the night and the night comes when no man can run away from his shadows. The press is fond of making publications of several leaders especially the MOGs as if these men are not humans. The little mistake of a MOG is placed on the media for mockery while they are guilty of the same SIN. In Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Clare the son of a renowned parson committed the same error as Tess, She forgive him but he could not forgive her. She regarded  herself  as  guilty.  The  later  tragedy  resulted  from  the  deeply  rooted  feudal  concept  of  society  and  her lover’s  virginity  complex.  She  regarded  herself  as  an  incarnation  of  sin,  and  always  felt  that  people  all  over  the world  are  paying  attention  to  her  situation.  She  couldn’t  forget  her  shame  more  than  anyone  else.  It  was  with  a net  of  her  own  morality  that  Tess  bound  herself  up.  Imperatively,  Tess consciousness  of  self binding  had  a  profound historical  basis  and  is  the  concrete  expression  of  the  whole  social  consciousness.  Tess,  as  an  individual  in  a certain  historical  period,  inevitably  formed  the  social  consciousness  and  moral  concept  in  a  specific  historical period, and  her  thoughts  and actions  were  inevitably  restricted  by the times  and  social ideas. 

The birds  of  all  kinds  will  end  up  landing, they may not land at the same time but all will land.

In Woke Soyinka's The Lion and the Jewel, Sidi appears. She is distraught. Lakunle having refuse to pay the bride price of Sidi who he claims to love after being overcome with emotion, and after at first expressing deep despair, knowing that the village Bale had raped her quickly offers to marry her instead, with no bride-price since she is not a virgin after all. Lakunle is pleased that things have gone as he hoped, imagine? Insincerity devalues the true worth of a man. Hypocrisy is giving fake smile, fake handshake, fake accolades, fake friendship, fake talk and so one. 

What then is my conclusion, be sincere with people. Tell the truth and never condemn others because your little fault might be the greatest sin before the one who knows the beginning from the ending.
