The Fair lady
The grain of the time spent at the reading room is close to one original kongo in measurement. The silence is continuously broken by the noise of the industrial fan by the wooden doorway. The room is such that is half full of magazines and reading materials. Everyone minded his business in this place. In a place like this, talking, discussing and loitering is prohibited. The clean reading chamber had a clean floor. The floor could be used for a temporal mirror.
Reading is the most essential skill that needs sharpening throughout life. It is a skill for survival. A person who cannot read will be dependent on those who can read. In the old days, our grannies made us read letters sent by uncles, relatives and extended family members before Christmas.
Reading is like having farsightedness. A loss of sight can be compared to someone who cannot read. In the world of today where signals and commentaries like “don’t touch” “keep off” “no face mask no entry” are all over the place how will the nonreaders survive? Reading is the most crucial skill to master due to several reasons. First, students can usually perform at a higher level in reading than in any other skills. They can quite accurately understand written materials that they could not discuss orally or in writing with equivalent accuracy or thoroughness. The benefit of learning to read or reading to learn is unquantifiable.
The unusual that caught my attention was that no one was pressing phone. In this twenty first century, we are used to pressing our phones at every opportunity not minding whether we are walking on the road, driving, jogging or reading. The place I thought people don’t press their phones is the restroom not until I knew a young man whose name begins with the letter M. He spends close to an hour in the rest room. Initially, no one took special interest of the gauges of the period spends in the toilet. And whenever he is there, there is always a total silence which often accompanies a sudden bust of hilarious loud overextended laughter like that which comedians make their audience exercise during night of a thousand laughs and then a total silence. M always go into the toilet with his android phone to watch movie, to him it was fun to watch movies in the toilet. This brings to bear the differences amidst us as human beings. Another man’s food is another man’s poison. And that i presume makes us unique and the world a platform to express our different natural behaviour nature.
It is one thing to have friends and another to keep friends and it is written in the scriptures that a man that has a friend must show himself friendly and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Many have the tendency to attract crowd of friends to themselves but the period of such friendship does not last to cook a de’rica of rice. Ability to tolerate others is an essential ingredient to living together.
The British colonies that came to Africa taught our ancestors to read because no human can grow without learning how to read. The reading room is well illuminated for the pleasures of the readers. It is a good place to purge your emotion. What the world will look like if many can choose to read in order to distract themselves from what is depressing their soul than take pleasure in consumption of alcohol and drugs in order to accomplish the same goal which eventually leads to drug addiction. Last night at the street of Majekodunmi, an old thin man sat on the bare floor close to the exit of Mayokun market. The passersby may not notice the veracity behind the action because any handicap begging for arms could wear same position. He was not begging for arms but his eyes were heavy like crimson. The day light had disappeared to make room for the presence of the moon light. No one knew what inspired the old man to resort drinking to stupor. Judge no man a preacher says.
In the near silence of their comfort reading, a fair, high hilled shoe, averagely tall lady walked into the reading room with a laptop, a book, a magazine, a newspaper, a novel and lastly a phone in hand. She must have been struggling under the weight of her blessed load. Her appearance was that of a friendly lady. She is a woman actually. Her fair face reveals the number of years she has spent on planet earth though her stature denies that fact a little bit. She walked along the sections and stopped at the section that occupies six people and only three were there. She greeted the company with a good morning and a smile for that matter but there remains a total silence. No one responded to her greeting. She stood for moments, picked up her things on the reading table, walked out without looking back and then a sound of a moving vehicle accompanied her disappearance. She had come to read. The greeting was made to settle her mind that the company welcomes her presence. Unluckily for her, the readers were lost in what they were reading and could not pay attention to the visitor. No one was at fault after all. Her swift response must have been rechecked by a focus on what she had come to do than what they had done. Therefore, you must comprehend the fact that you cannot control what others will do to you; however, your reaction takes the better part of you.
